Football supporters are being invited to donate food items to those less well off as part of a new foodbank collection at Rovers’ home games.
The food collection point will be situated between the Club Doncaster shop and the Belle Vue Bar from 12noon to 2pm prior to Sunday's Emirates FA Cup second round game against Scunthorpe United, and for aorund two hours up to kick-off on future matchdays.
Donations on the day outside the above hours can also be made via the Club Doncaster Box Office, Club Doncaster Academy and Club Doncaster shop.
The items will then be passed on to Doncaster Foodbank later in the week by the group DRFC4Foodbanks, led by fan Martin O’Hara. He said: “Many families in the Doncaster area need the help of foodbanks, let us, as DRFC supporters, show that the football community can help them in times of need.
“Please help by supporting the foodbank, or giving up some of your time and volunteer a few hours on a matchday to help those who need it.”
Suggested items for donation are milk (UHT or powdered), tinned meat, fruit juice (cartons), pasta sauces, tinned rice pudding, instant coffee, hot chocolate, rice, tinned fruit, jam, biscuits or snack bars and shower gel.
