Rovers midfielder Morgan James is relishing another opportunity to play on the Keepmoat Stadium pitch in Tuesday’s FA Youth Cup tie against Blackpool.
The youngster was part of the U18s squad which came from behind to beat Walsall 4-3 in the first round, setting up Tuesday’s second round clash.
He said: “It’s a beautiful pitch. I look forward to getting on it again and staying in the competition – we all want to make it through and go as far as we can.
“A crowd is always good to have, as it can help you out a lot. If they make a bit of noise when you do something good it gives you that little bit extra.”
James has featured in both Rovers’ home Checkatrade Trophy games this season, and is now a regular in the Development squad. He has taken a lot of confidence from his involvement with the first-team.
He added; “It was brilliant, I was really excited and a bit nervous when I stepped out on the pitch and there was a crowd there - which we’re not used to - but you just have to put the nerves out the way and concentrate on playing.
“The senior players are brilliant, putting an arm around you, as are the staff. They show belief in us, which makes us believe we are good enough.
“It makes us feel like we can perform at the top level, if you can perform in the first-team it means that in the first-team you can express yourself and improve in areas you might not have tried to before.”
Tuesday’s FA Youth Cup second round fixture will again take place at the Keepmoat Stadium.
The match will kick-off at 7pm and is open to spectators, with entrance £3 for adults, £1 concessions and £1 for Season Membership holders. Fans will be housed in the West Stand.
There has to be a winner on the night, meaning extra-time and penalties will be used to decide who progresses if required.
