Paul Stancliffe was delighted with the reaction from his players as they got back to winning ways in a 1-0 victory over Lincoln City U18s.

A second half strike from Lewis Scattergood was enough to separate the two sides on the day and Stancliffe was pleased to be back to winning ways.

He said: “It’s always important to win and we make sure the players know that, it is part of what we want them to get out of it, but we still can’t get away from the fact that we are looking for performances and player progression, that’s the most important thing.

“We were bitterly disappointed on Tuesday with the result against Blackpool but that’s gone and we had to move on and that’s exactly what they’ve done.

“Once again, they’ve been consistent today which is obviously what we weren’t on Tuesday and we wanted a response from them.

“Credit to the players though, they’ve worked ever so hard and they tried to play some good stuff at times, which didn’t always come off but it was a bumpy a pitch.”

Injury to centre back Danny Amos ended his day early has he was substituted for Cameron Foulkes straight after half time, but Stancliffe isn’t too concerned about his injury.

“Just precautionary, he just felt a little twinge in his gluteus maximus but you’re always going to little knocks and kicks in football matches so it’s not too concerning,” Stancliffe said.

Rovers’ next game will see them head to Burton Albion on Saturday 2 December 2017 for an 11am kick-off.
