Amos in confident mood

25 October 2017

Defender Danny Amos is in confident mood after getting his first taste of international football.

The left-back played twice for Northern Ireland U19 as they took part in a European Championship qualifying tournament, scoring on his debut against Poland then also featuring against Belarus.

Amos said: “I couldn’t believe it when I scored. we had been practising a set-piece in training and it hadn’t worked, but it just did in the game. It was an unbelievable feeling.

“We finished third in the table so didn’t go through, but scoring in an international and playing in a 55,000 seater stadium was some experience. It has given me more of a desire to win, my confidence is high and I’ve been playing well.”

Amos will get another taste of playing in a big venue on Thursday when he lines up at the Keepmoat Stadium for Rovers’ youth team against Walsall in the FA Youth Cup on Thursday evening.

He added: “It’ll be another great experience to play on the main pitch, to be in the changing rooms before and to walk out in what is our biggest game of the season.

“Hopefully the fans come down will see a good game, we want to show the Walsall Academy what we’re all about.”

Tickets for Thursday’s game are just £1 for Season Members and concessions, or £3 for adults. Book your tickets now by calling 01302 762576 or going to tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk. Kick-off is 7pm.
