Andy Butler has promised Rovers’ players will stick together as a team as they look to bounce back from the disappointing defeat at Bradford City.
Rovers were beaten 2-0 at the Northern Commercials Stadium, a second defeat in five days, and were again undone by two headed goals late in the first period.
Butler said: “We are not that far away, the games we’ve lost are through individual mistakes which have cost us - but we win together as a team and lose together as a team. We score and defend as a team, so we need to stick together.
“It is a results-based game. We want to say we’ve won the game and played well - putting those two things together is what we need to do. We have to brush it off and get ready for Southend on Saturday. We can’t dwell on it, we need to get on with it and get a result.”
The match at Bradford was a frustrating one for Rovers, and Butler felt his side’s performance in the second half was encouraging.
He added: “In the second half I thought we were the dominant team, but just couldn’t find the goal which would get us back into the game.
“Marko’s only had one save to make other than the goals, and I know we keep saying it but it really is fine margins. We had a couple cleared off the line, and if those go in it’s a different game.”
Rovers are back in action at the Keepmoat Stadium when they host Sunderland U21 on Tuesday then Southend United on Saturday. Get your tickets now from the Club Doncaster Box Office on 01302 762576 or by going to tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
