Ferguson pleased with Baudry return

12 October 2017

Darren Ferguson is looking forward to welcoming Mathieu Baudry back into the squad as the defender nears a return to first team action.

Baudry played 60 minutes for Rovers’ Development side in midweek after missing the start of the season through injury, and Ferguson believes the Frenchman will add something different to his side.

“He looks really fit and sharp, he got a good 60 minutes for the Development side and breezed through it – he could have probably played longer,” he said.

“It’s just a case of when we give him the green light really, whether that may be Saturday or Tuesday we’ll have to wait and see because we have to manage him properly.

“I have to manage him as best I can, he feels he’s ready to go and I wouldn’t disagree with him as he probably could start a game but he has to fight his way into the team.”

Rovers face Charlton Athletic in Sky Bet League One this weekend, and the manager is expecting an open game against Karl Robinson’s team.

“They’ve got a good footballing team and the manager there has a good philosophy as he’s shown in the past, they play a very much possession based game,” Ferguson added.

“I will pick my team based on how we can hurt the opposition rather than the other way round, we have to focus on what we can do and which shape will cause them problems.

“We’ve worked on their strengths and weaknesses so we know what to expect and I’m looking forward to it as it’s a great stadium and it should be a good atmosphere.”

Tickets for Rovers' next game at the Keepmoat Stadium against Portsmouth on Tuesday October 17 are still available from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
