Ferguson wants winning mentality

26 October 2017

Darren Ferguson is looking for a winning mentality from the Rovers players as they attempt to climb the Sky Bet League One table.

Ferguson’s side travel to face Bury this weekend with both sides battling to find some consistency after a mixed run of results recently.

He said: “Having a winning mentality is key for us, we need that to get us onto a good run of form and help us climb the league table.

“I know the effort and the commitment is there from the players, it’s a collective thing that everyone must be aware that the results haven’t been what we expect.

“Although we’re only a third of the way through the season it’s important that we start picking up points against the teams around us as that could prove to be key.”

Ferguson is expecting a difficult game against Lee Clark’s side, after they brought in a number of experienced players over the summer.

“Lee Clark is an experienced manager at this level, they recruited a lot of players in the summer and have a team full of players who have played in the higher leagues,” he added.

“They’ve not found the form they would have liked despite getting a good win against Bradford a couple of weeks ago.

“We’ve been very close in games but we’ve lost too many for our liking so I have to find a way of turning performances into results.”

Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday October 31 as they face Scunthorpe United in the Checkatrade Trophy. Get your tickets from the Club Doncaster Box Office, call 01302 762576 or go to tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
