Mason enjoying life in League One

13 October 2017

Niall Mason is enjoying the step up to Sky Bet League One as he continues to perform in a number of different positions for Rovers.

The 20-year-old has started all but one league game this season and believes being consistent in whichever position he is picked is key to him maintaining his place in the team.

“I had a good experience of playing games last season so I’m used to the pace of it now and it’s something I enjoy, I thrive on the pressure of keeping my place in the team,” he said.

“The manager has shown faith in me and I’d like to think that I’ve repaid that with my performances over the past year or so, I try to be as consistent as I can wherever I play.

“There is definitely a difference between the leagues, every mistake is punished so I think the biggest thing is that all of the teams in League One are ruthless in both penalty areas.”

Rovers face Charlton Athletic this weekend and Mason believes they can head to the capital full of confidence, having performed well against sides towards the top end of the table so far this season.

“We’ve got another tough test this weekend but I don’t think we have anything to fear as we’ve done really well against the top teams this season,” he added.

“We’ve taken points off of Blackburn and Peterborough and did well against Shrewsbury for large parts of that game so the confidence is there amongst the lads that we can go there and get a result.

“We’ve spoken a lot about being aggressive and getting on the front foot as that’s when we’re at our best, we want to take the game to teams and show that we’re a threat in this division.”

Tickets for Rovers' next game at the Keepmoat Stadium against Portsmouth on Tuesday October 17 are still available from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
