Arsene Wenger believes the Rovers players should be proud of their efforts after his side knocked Darren Ferguson’s team out of the Carabao Cup.
Arsenal won the third round tie 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium, and Wenger admitted he was surprised by the level of quality on display from Rovers.
He said: “I would say that they played very well, and one thing has changed with teams in the lower divisions is that they are all super fit.
“Doncaster were well organised and gave us a really tough time. They kept going for the full game and could have got a goal towards the end.
“I must say I was surprised by the quality they had, they shouldn’t be too concerned about their current league position because they are still adapting to a new league.”
