Ferguson expecting reaction

28 September 2017

Darren Ferguson is looking to get back to winning ways when his side travel to face Bradford City this weekend.

The fixture against the Bantams will be the second time Rovers have visited the Northern Commercials Stadium this season, and Ferguson is looking for more of the same after his side won 3-2 in the Carabao Cup in August.

“We’ve gone there and beaten them already, and then that should give you confidence that you can go to a place like that and win,” he said.

“The last one was a proper cup tie and it was a good performance and a great result for us and we will be looking to do the same on Saturday but we know it will be tough.

“It’ll be a good atmosphere because the crowds they get are fantastic and I am looking forward to it and so should the players, and they need to be ready to go and compete and get the result there.”

After losing to Shrewsbury Town in midweek, Ferguson is expecting an immediate response from his side as they continue to battle their way through a busy schedule in Sky Bet League One.

“The opening period of the game will be important, it is vital that you don’t give them too much confidence, we have to frustrate them and we have to be the ones to take the control early on and then go and get the result,” he added.

“Against Shrewsbury, we created more chances than any other team that’s faced them this season, and I’ve said the same things in training as I did after the game and the players know where I’m coming from.

“We are capable of going there and getting the right result, we can do that against anyone and we know that, but we have to start showing more ruthlessness when we need it, but it is clear to see the talent that is there and we have to be more streetwise.”

Getting a Bronze Membership is a cost-effective way of watching Rovers this season. You can get up to £4 off the cost of home games, as well as get priority for cup games. Bronze Memberships cost a one-off fee of just £10. You can purchase from the Box Office at the Keepmoat Stadium, by calling 01302 762576 or going to tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
