Firefly Cancer Awareness and Support have been confirmed as Club Doncaster’s fourth official charity partner for 2017/18.
Firefly Cancer Awareness and Support was the clear winner of a fans vote and will join the Club Doncaster Foundation, Prostate Cancer (PCUK) and Campaign against Living Miserably (CALM) as official charity partners.
Firefly provides a free dedicated team of volunteer drivers that give a vital means of transport to cancer patients in the borough of Doncaster. This allows patients to receive lifesaving treatment at Sheffield treatment centres.
Firefly director Chewy Bacchus said: “Firefly Cancer Awareness and Support are honoured to be Club Doncaster’s fourth official charity partner.
“As a local charity in the borough of Doncaster, to be linked with our very own local football club is very humbling - knowing the great work Club Doncaster do for the community.
“We hope this partnership continues to raise awareness of what Firefly does for the people of Doncaster, their families and friends, which is to provide free transport to Sheffield treatment centres for life saving cancer treatment.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody that voted for Firefly Cancer Awareness and Support.”
Mark Hughesman, Club Doncaster marketing manager, said: “It is with immense pride that we add Firefly to our list of charity partners.
“We were overwhelmed by the interaction of the charity vote, expressing how passionate Rovers fans are for local and national charities and their choice was Firefly.
“As a club we will look to support Firefly and our other official charity partners contributing towards their fundraising objectives.
“Club Doncaster will also continue to assist additional charities through our monthly charity draw. We have donated a signed Doncaster Rovers shirt to all nominated charities as a thank you for taking part in the process.”
