Ian Lawlor says that Rovers will go into Tuesday’s game against Sky Bet League One leaders Shrewsbury Town full of confidence after getting back to winning ways at the weekend.
Lawlor kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 win over Plymouth, and believes that victory will give them momentum as they prepare to take on Paul Hurst’s side.
“The result at the weekend was massive, it was a deserved three points and it came at a good time for us,” he said.
“We’ve deserved more points than we’ve got so far, things haven’t quite gone our way but hopefully the win against Plymouth will prove to be a turning point.
“The clean sheet was a boost for the backline as a whole, the defence performed well and limited the chances they had and it was very pleasing overall.”
Rovers are still looking for their first home victory of the season, but Lawlor reckons that their performances have merited more points at the Keepmoat Stadium.
“We’re looking to turn the draws into wins at home, we’ve played well in all of the games here so far so we’ve been unfortunate not to pick up a win here yet,” he added.
“Winning games breeds confidence, we want the fans to get behind us and keep coming through the gates as their support can be the difference.
“We haven’t looked out of place in this league and have handled the step up well, we’ve played well and it’s just the fine lines that we’re looking to improve on.”
