Manager Darren Ferguson is targeting two wins out of the three final Sky Bet League One fixtures his side has left to play this season.
Rovers were denied a point against Blackburn on Tuesday night, as a second-half header from Charlie Mulgrew gave the visitors all three points, and Ferguson believes his side were unlucky not to come away with a point.
“We have to try and make sure that we get to 60 points now, as that was the target, we have to win two out of the remaining three games,” he said.
“I am delighted with the players’ application and effort once again, but unfortunately we have been defeated and that is the first time that we have had back-to-back defeats since September.
“We spoke about doing the double over Blackburn and we ran them close, I know that Tony Mowbray didn’t want that to happen to his side this season.”
The result on Tuesday night saw Blackburn return to the Sky Bet Championship, and Ferguson has congratulated Tony Mowbray’s side on their achievement.
“Blackburn fully deserve their promotion to the Championship, they have had to deal with new players coming into the club and the pressure of the expectation,” he added.
“I have had to deal with that in the past, the expectation of them winning the league or going up automatically, and they have gone on an incredible run.
“They pressed us very aggressively in the first period, which you would have expected, but second-half we were a lot better and kept control of the ball, and looked more of a threat.”
