Central defender Andy Boyle says he has enjoyed his loan spell at Rovers and has praised the work of his teammates and the backroom staff.
The Irishman joined Darren Ferguson’s side from Sky Bet Championship side Preston North End in the January transfer window, and he says Rovers are a team that are heading in the right direction.
“I have really enjoyed my time here, there is a great bunch of lads and the staff have been real helpful since I joined the club,” he said.
“I wanted to get in as many games as possible during my time here and I before the injury I was playing regularly, and the staff have helped me get back to full fitness.
“Everybody has been so welcoming during my time here, and on the footballing side of things, it’s a fantastic stadium with great facilities, the players are a good set of lads and it’s a team that can really go places.”
Boyle scored his first goal in English football in Rovers’ 3-3 draw with Bury on Tuesday night and he says it was nice to find the back of the net.
“I don’t really score many goals to be honest, it is not one of my specialities, but it is nice to get my first goal for Doncaster,” he added.
“It is a nice feeling to score your first goal and it helped us to get a point out of the game in the end, if we could have got in at half-time without conceding a goal, it would have been a different game.
“I think the last goal I scored would have been when I was playing back in Ireland, so it feels like it was a long time ago, but it is certainly a nice feeling.”
