Darren Ferguson is looking for his side to make it three wins in a row as Rovers travel to Gillingham on Saturday.
Back-to-back wins against Bradford City and Blackpool have seen Rovers rise up the Sky Bet League One table, and Ferguson is eager to see the good run continue.
“We only have a month left of the season now and I want to finish the season as strongly as possible, the last couple of wins have set us up so that we can finish as high as we can,” he said.
“It was disappointing to see the game called off on Monday, we wanted to come back home after the win on Good Friday with some momentum, and Wimbledon had a tough home game on a heavy pitch and we felt we could take advantage of that.
“We’ve not suffered too many back-to-back defeats all season really, we’ve always done well to find a reaction and that is important, we’re currently on back-to-back wins now and we’re now going into a game on Saturday that’s winnable, but it will be tough.”
Saturday’s trip to Kent sees Rovers take on a Gills side that they faced on the opening day of the season, and Ferguson feels his side have progressed a lot since that first outing.
“Earlier on in the season we were creating a lot of chances, we just weren’t scoring as many goals as we should have been, we’ve been more clinical, but we have also kept more clean sheets,” Ferguson added.
“It’s all about those fine margins of finding ways to win games, the Bradford game didn’t really see us have too many chances, but we were clinical with the ones that opened up for us, whereas at the start of the season we didn’t take our chances.
“I think a lot of the stuff we did in the Blackpool game shows what we are doing is working well, the players have put in a lot of work and we have to keep going, they look fresh and it’s really important that we get them right for the games and maintain it.”
