Darren Ferguson says his side will treat MK Dons with total respect on Satuday despite the home side sitting in the relegation zone.
The Dons are fighting for their Sky Bet League One survival, but have won three of their past six outings to keep in touch.
“I’m sure they will be looking at this game on Saturday and thinking that there could be a possibility that they could get themselves out of the drop zone,” said Ferguson.
“It is a massive game for them and that is what I will be saying to the players, reminding them that they have to treat the game with respect that it is due and treat it in the same way Milton Keynes will do.
“They will be looking at Saturday’s game with five games to go and thinking they have nothing to lose, and they will also be thinking that they can get out of the relegation zone in that time frame.”
Ferguson feels the Dons have talented players and is surprised they have been drawn into a relegation battle.
“I am very surprised that MK Dons are in the relegation zone to be honest, they are a team that has some very good players,” he added.
“The chairman and his son run the club very well, and they have had some success over the years, but since they went came down from the Championship it has been a bit of a decline for them.
“They have changed managers a few times over the past couple of seasons, and I think if you ask anybody, they would say they are surprised they are down there.”
