Stancliffe hails outstanding U18s

9 April 2018

Paul Stancliffe felt his Rovers U18s side played outstanding football at times during the 1-1 draw with Mansfield Town.

James Morris’ strike ensured the young Rovers side claimed a point, and went close to claiming victory when Lewis Scattergood’s effort came back off the crossbar.

Stancliffe said: “I’m very happy with that performance – the only disappointing thing was that we didn’t win, and I thought that we thoroughly deserved to do that with the way we played. The performance at times was outstanding.

“Even when we went down to 10men we still passed the ball and moved the ball round with confidence and we were very affective.”

The point continued the strong form of Stancliffe’s side from prior to the Christmas break.

Stancliffe added: “If they keep doing the things they’ve done in this match then they’ve got a chance of continuing the unbeaten run we’re on.

“It’s all about standards – which we like to keep – it’s how we want to play and this was exactly how we wanted to play.”
