Assistant manager Gavin Strachan is anticipating an aggressive approach from Oldham Athletic in Saturday’s Sky Bet League One game at Boundary Park.
The Latics currently occupy the final relegation spot in the league, and Strachan, like Darren Ferguson, is targeting two wins from the final three games.
“Oldham are a team that are very aggressive and I expect them to be right at us from the start, they are a very attacking side, with lots of strikers and lots of wingers," he said.
“They also have a lot of creative players who make chances, they will look to play out from the back and they will come at us.
“In any game you have to put your own mark on the game and we will do that on Saturday, and I think two wins from the final three games is a realistic target.”
Rovers could also have a say in where the Sky Bet League One title ends up at the end of the season as they host Wigan Athletic on the final day, and Strachan says he prefers the games that have something riding on it.
“It is quite ironic really that the run in from the past two seasons, and this one, for lots of different reasons, teams still have stuff to play for,” he added.
“Oldham on Saturday will be very motivated, Wimbledon, depending on what might go on will have their own motivation and obviously Wigan on the last day of the season could be fighting for a title.
“So in many respects I am quite happy with that, I don’t really like the dead rubbers as such, I think it shows you a lot about the players and how they react to certain pressures.
