Matty Blair says the Rovers squad are ready to go once again when they face Shrewsbury Town in Sky Bet League One.

Rovers host the Shrews on Tuesday night following the weekend’s defeat to Burton Albion, and Blair believes they are fully focused on taking every game as it comes, starting with the match against last season’s play-off finalists.

“Complacency won’t set in here we’re sure of that, a good start is always needed if you want to win games, if we start brightly against Shrewsbury then I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t get a win,” he said.

“The beauty of football is that we have another game up quickly to respond to the defeat at the weekend, we want to put stuff right straight away and we’re looking for a good, positive reaction and a good result.

“I don’t really tend to look at the table this early on in the season, we know where we are as a team and where we should be as individuals as well, for now we just want to pick up as many points as we can and build on this good form early on.”

Blair has featured off the bench in all three of Rovers’ league games, starting in the Carabao Cup win over Scunthorpe United, and he says he is happy to be kept waiting if it means the side are doing well, but he will be ready to take his chance when called upon.

“I’ve not been frustrated about not starting as many games, I’ve come into the side and I feel I’ve done very well when I’ve played, there’s some great quality in midfield, I can only do what I can do, and hopefully it’s good enough for the gaffer,” he added.

“I try and put a positive spin on everything that I do now, I like to keep my mindset strong, things will happen and hopefully that can come sooner rather than later, I want to get in to the side and play, but if I have to wait for my chance I’m happy to do so.

“I’ll keep going and I’ll keep plugging away and my chance will hopefully come, I’ve sat down with the gaffer and had a chat, he’s said he thinks highly of me and he said to stay with him, he’s said I’ll get a lot of minutes this season and I’m going to be ready to go.”
