Manager Grant McCann is keen to ensure the momentum from Rovers good start is maintained when they face Scunthorpe United in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

His side make the short trip to Glanford Park looking to emulate their good cup run in the competition last season, and McCann hopes their impressive start to the season can continue.

“When you have the momentum we have, the last thing you want to do is make too many changes and stop that, a few players are in good form, so we’d want to avoid giving them a rest just yet, so the lads will be ready to go,” he said.

“When you’re in that winning mentality, which we have, it’s important that it spreads throughout, the under-18s have started brightly too, and we want to keep that around the club as much as possible.”

Rovers reached the third round of the Carabao Cup last season, drawing an away tie at Premier League giants Arsenal, and McCann is eager for his side to earn another big draw this time around.

“A cup run can be very beneficial for the club, both financially, but also for the fans as well, the cup run that this club went on last year with the trip to Arsenal can be excellent, I’ve been involved in ones with Peterborough too and I’ve seen what it did there too,” he added.

“We beat Aston Villa away then got Leicester on the TV in the next round, it gives people the chance to see your team, you can be seen around the world, we want a cup run this year as well, not just this competition, but we want to do well in all of them this season.

“If you can get through the first couple rounds then you have a great chance of drawing a big team, it’s a big opportunity for us here to get a big team away from home or a nice tie here, we’d like a big night here and show what we can do.”
