Manager Grant McCann is pleased with the start his side have made to the 2018/19 season and is confident that his side can maintain their focus.

Rovers travel to the Pirelli Stadium to face Burton Albion on Saturday in search of their fourth win of the season in all competitions, and McCann says he wants teams being fearful of his side as they get further into the 2018/19 campaign.

“We’re fully focused on the task in hand and the next game and that is Burton, we’re prepared for what they will throw at us, as soon as we finished the game on Tuesday that was that done now we have to be ready for the weekend,” he said.

“I said this really early in pre-season, we want to make sure that teams are fearing us instead of us worrying about what they’re going to do to us, we have to make sure we stick to our beliefs and get ready for the next game every time no matter what happens.

“If you’re not on it on any given day then you will get hurt, we have to make sure that we have enough players playing to their full potential, I want all my players to be performing right to their best and that’s the best way to get up the table.”

Rovers have started life under McCann brightly, with a 100 per cent win rate for the new manager and he is looking for his players to keep focused and take every game as it comes.

“We need people focused and concentrated, that’s just not in games but in general, every day in training, and that’s one thing about this group, they are and they work hard and every single day they come in with a smile on their face,” he added.

“When you have a good changing room like we have, everyone buys in to that, there’s a lot of people around the club that can give everyone a lift and lead the group, and I think that can only be a good thing for everyone.

“This league is very up and down, there’s never a good time to play anyone really, I think anybody can beat anybody on any given day, that goes for the Championship as well, not just this division, so every game will be tough, we need to make sure we’re ready and we will be.”

Rovers are back at the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday August 21 to take on John Askey's Shrewsbury Town in Sky Bet League One, get your tickets now from tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
