Rovers boss Grant McCann feels forward Tyler Smith will give him greater attacking options.
The 20-year-old, who is set to join on loan on January 3, has pace and an eye for goal - having hit 10 on loan for National League side Barrow earlier in the campaign.
McCann said: "He has scored a lot of goals this season for Barrow and we believe he cane come here and make an impact.
"He is quick, runs in behind and has good pedigree. We want to have plenty of options up front and he'll add to that as well as Kieran Sadlier coming in and, hopefully, Mallik Wilks staying for the rest of the season."
Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Rochdale on New Year's Day, tickets are available from tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
