Kieran Sadlier says the opportunity to work with Grant McCann was one of the main factors in his decision to join Rovers.

The 24-year-old has agreed an 18-month deal with the club, and worked with the manager at former club Peterborough United.

He said: “He likes to play very good football and so do I, so that is one of the main reasons I wanted to come here.

“I got on really well with him and he was a great player so I want to work with him and improve my game.

“It was a massive decision for me at this stage in my career, I want to make an impact and I know that this is a club on the up.”

Sadlier finished his final season in Ireland with 26 goals in all competitions, and feels he can add something different to the Rovers side.

He added: “I’ve played a lot of games in the past few years which has developed me a player and helped me to mature in a first-team environment.

“Since I’ve been talking to the manager I’ve been keeping an eye on the results and I’ve been impressed, they play really good football.

“I’ve got to earn my place as I’m coming into a very good team, we are challenging at the top end of the table so I want to make sure we stay there.”
