Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder believes Tyler Smith is ready for the next stage in his development, after agreeing to join Rovers until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old forward hit 10 goals during a loan spell at National League side Barrow in the opening period of the game, before being recalled by the Blades to train with their first-team and provide cover. He is now set to join Rovers from January 3 until the end of the campaign.
He said: "We wanted him back over Christmas to have a look at him, but we always knew he was going to go back out to a League One club. That's great for him and his development.
"It's been interesting to see him develop and come on, to see his attitude change, to see his confidence come out. He's come out of his shell a lot more now."
Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Rochdale on New Year's Day, tickets are available from tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
