Anderson pleased with point

11 February 2018

Tom Anderson was happy with a point after Rovers drew 1-1 with Charlton Athletic at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Matty Blair netted deep into stoppage time to level the game, but it was Anderson's goal-saving block at the other end, with the scores at 1-0, which prevented the game from getting away from Rovers.

He said: "It was my man for their goal so I hold my hands up for that, there was still a long time left in the game so I had to stay focused and try to do well.

"I made the block in the second half, Ian Lawlor delayed the player and fortunately that gave me enough time to get back and get my body in the way.

"It's a good point for us in the end, we weren't at our best but the fact we've still managed to get something from it says a lot about the team."

Anderson felt the fighting spirit within the squad meant that Rovers were always capable of getting something from the game late on.

He added: "Scoring the late goal means the dressing room is fairly happy, nothing beats winning but spirits are high going into the game on Tuesday.

"We always keep going and that's massive in any game, you can never give up as anything can happen particularly when you have as much quality as we do.

"There isn't much between us drawing and getting three points in games, it's the fine details which we need to get right and we're working hard on doing that."

Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium to face Fleetwood Town on Saturday February 17. You can purchase tickets from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
