Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said Doncaster Rovers were one of the toughest opponents his side has faced this season.
Using his programme notes ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, where the Gunners take on Manchester City, the Arsenal boss has paid tribute to the energy and ability of Rovers back in the third round of the competition.
He said ““During our run to the final we have had some tough challenges. We played Doncaster Rovers and Norwich City at the Emirates Stadium in the early rounds and both were difficult opponents, full of energy and with a good technical level.
“On both occasions we were pushed until the end, getting through by a single goal both times. These were two matches which provided us with a good illustration of the quality and strength of Football League teams.
“Both Doncaster and Norwich came away from our matches with a huge amount of respect and credit.”
