Kieran Scarff says the young players coming through the club’s Academy have no better role model than James Coppinger - after the Rovers captain chalked off his 500th EFL appearance for the club.
Coppinger became only the 99th person in EFL history to feature in 500 league games for one club on Saturday, prompting praise from across football.
And for the head of Rovers’ Academy, he is a fantastic character to have around the club.
Writing in his programme notes on Saturday, Scarff said: “I would like to congratulate James Coppinger on his 500th league appearance for the club. This is an incredible achievement and is testament to the way Copps has dedicated himself to his profession.
“He is an outstanding example to all our young players of how to apply yourself daily and his willingness and ability to continue learning is continuously evident.
“Copps is an excellent role model who provides excellent advice and guidance to our young players. He fully deserves all the accolades he gets for this tremendous achievement.”
