Manager Darren Ferguson has welcomed back defender Mathieu Baudry to his 18-man squad that travel to Walsall on Tuesday night.
Baudry was forced off with a hamstring injury in Rovers’ 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park, and Ferguson says that the Frenchman brings an added dimension to his side.
“Mathieu Baudry returned to training this week and he will be added to the 18-man team for the game against Walsall, which is a big boost for us,” he said.
“I think it is important to have someone like him back as he brings us a lot of experience, he is a different type of centre-half and he is someone that likes to play out from the back.
“He has a lot of experience when it comes to playing in this league, and he adds a lot of different things to the squad that we haven’t got, and it is important that we have him back.”
Rovers head to the Banks’s Stadium looking to add three valuable points to their total, and Ferguson says they are a side that possess a lot of energy.
“I have watched their game back against Blackpool and I thought they were very good, they have got a lot of energy in their squad and the manager has brought a few players in during the transfer window,” he added.
“They are a team just below us in the league, so the next two games are two teams that are very close to us in the standings, so they are always very important games.
“We have gone through all the things we needed to go through, on and off the ball, so it has been a really busy day, like it always is when it is Saturday –Tuesday – Saturday.”
