Darren Ferguson is set to welcome back Alex Kiwomya and Luke McCullough to his matchday squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to Fratton Park to face Portsmouth in Sky Bet League One.
Both players are yet to feature for Rovers after early season injuries, but Ferguson says that both players are looking strong after a run of games in the development squad.
“Luke McCullough and Alex Kiwomya will both be in the squad on Saturday, that’s a big boost for us because they both can play in different position within the team,” said Ferguson.
“McCullough has come through three development games now and looked fairly strong in the game on Saturday in which he played outstanding.
“Kiwomya has played a couple of games now too, he’s a player that hasn’t played for such a long time, especially at a new club, but he certainly gives us another option in the front line.”
Rovers travel to ninth-placed Portsmouth looking to get back to winning ways, and Ferguson says it is important that his side make a quick start to the game on Saturday.
“It is a long journey down to Portsmouth and anyone that goes down there knows that they are not going to get an easy game that’s for sure," said Ferguson
“They are club that has some fantastic support with great atmosphere, but I think that will be good thing for us, the way we start the game will be important and I’m looking forward to it.
“They lost their last game at home against Shrewsbury in the league, they have brought in a few players in the window and it will be a hard game against a very experienced manager who has his sides very organised.”
Rovers’ next home game sees Charlton Athletic visit the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday February 10. Buy your ticket from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576, or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
