Foodbank collection at Fleetwood game

16 February 2018

Rovers supporters have now donated 500kg of food to a fans-led foodbank collection after a record haul at the last home game.

Organisers set an ambitious target of collecting 100kg prior to the visit of Charlton Athletic, meaning the overall raised would hit 500kg and match the landmark 500th EFL appearance of Rovers captain James Coppinger on the same day.

And with a record number of donations prior to the game - the aim was just achieved.

That included a significant donation from Club Doncaster staff after a collection from staff based at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The DRFCFans4Foodbanks initiative launched just before Christmas with a foodbank collection point outside the Belle Vue Bar at every home game with volunteers there to accept donations.

The foodbank collection will be in place again for the visit of Fleetwood Town on Saturday February 17.

Fans can also leave donations at the Club Doncaster Box Office or club shop on non-matchdays.

Suggested items are:

  • Cereal
  • Soup
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Pasta sauce
  • Beans
  • Tinned meat
  • Tinned vegetables
  • Tea/coffee
  • Tinned fruit
