Intensity key for Rotherham trip

21 February 2018

Darren Ferguson believes the intensity of Rovers’ performance against Fleetwood Town provides a platform for a good showing in Saturday’s trip to South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United.

Rovers were 3-0 victors in a dominant performance at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday, with a level of effort and desire that Ferguson wants repeated.

He said: “It was a convincing win and the players deserve a lot of credit. The intensity stats were as high as they have been for a long time.

“It sets us up nicely for Rotherham because we’re going to have to do all those things and the rest. If we can continue doing that, and that is the bare minimum required, then we are going to be a hard team to beat.”

Rovers sit on 42 points with 12 games to go, and Ferguson is looking for a strong finish to the campaign.

He added: “We want to keep getting to the same level of intensity as against Fleetwood.

“We want to be as competitive as we can and pick up as many points as we can and see where we end up.”
