Tommy Rowe is confident his teammates can bounce back straight away, following Rovers’ 4-2 defeat on the road at Walsall.
Rowe captained the side on the night and scored the first of Rovers’ two goals late in the game, but he says the squad know they weren’t good enough on Tuesday night.
“We will go away and look in to it immediately, we aren’t thinking those two goals are anything special," Rowe said.
“We’re all bitterly disappointed and the players take full responsibility, we had a plan and didn’t execute it at all, the first half wasn’t great, we couldn’t find the right tempo and we didn’t get a hold on the game.
“If you don’t play how you should then you will get punished and the third goal came at an awful time, we need to be organising ourselves better in the game as a squad, we have to take responsibility on the pitch.”
Rovers will now look to return to winning ways this weekend, as Fleetwood Town visit the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday, and Rowe says that the hard work starts immediately.
“There’s nothing you can say apart from it has to change and it has to improve straight away, we will look at it again and see where we went wrong and try and bounce back immediately,” he said.
“We aren’t worried at all about the situation we are in, we knew the ins and outs of a game, we came to win, and we set up and organised well, it was how we executed, not about how we prepared because we did everything right leading up to it.
“It shines a bad light on the staff and the fans, everyone expects us to play better, its not what we’re about and we have to get back on track quickly, and we will learn from that and take it onto the pitch on Saturday.”
