Butler signs new deal

31 January 2018

Club captain Andy Butler has signed a new deal with Rovers which will see him stay with the side until the end of the 2018/19 season.

The 34-year-old has been with the club for four years since joining from fellow Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield United, and Butler says it was an easy decision to sign a new contract with Darren Ferguson’s side.

"The gaffer pulled me up around Christmas time and said that I had been playing well for him, Gavin Strachan and the rest of the staff have been brilliant with me, I’m delighted to sign up again,” said Butler.

“You know where you stand with the gaffer, he isn’t going to lie to you, he tells you how it is and a lot of players appreciate that and he knows that I am an honest player.

“It’s my hometown team and as soon as they offered it me, it was an easy yes, then it was just about getting all the paperwork signed and it was a done deal.”

Rovers face Charlton Athletic on Saturday 10 February in Sky Bet League One at the Keepmoat Stadium, get your tickets for the game from the Club Doncaster Box Office by calling 01302 762576 or from tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
