Tyler Walker is looking to prove his worth for Rovers’ Development side after signing a contract extension to keep him at Rovers until the end of the season.
Four Development side games in January provide the youngster, who played earlier this season in the Checkatrade Trophy win over Sunderland U23s, a chance to impress manager Darren Ferguson.
He said: “I just want to play as many minutes as I can in these U23 games, then once this run of games are out the way we’ll see what happens - hopefully.”
“To get a contract in the summer was amazing, and to now have it until the end of the season is seen better.”
Walker and fellow defensive team-mate Reece Fielding have spent a big chunk of this campaign on loan at Biggleswade Town, competing in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division - giving the pair valuable experience in men’s football.
He added: “Going there has made me a better player, coming up against more physical players and featuring every week has been good for me.”
Rovers’ Development side will host Morecambe at Cantley Park on Tuesday 9 January (kick-off 1pm). Entry is free.
