Darren Ferguson says Rovers will need to match Shrewsbury Town’s high energy levels in Sky Bet League One this weekend.
Rovers go into the game on the back of a six-game unbeaten run in the league, and go up against a Shrewsbury side who sit second in the table.
Ferguson said: “They’re a very good team who have had a very good season, I went and watched them against West Ham and it will be a big test for us.
“Their work rate is key to their success, everyone works for each other and I see some similarities to ourselves in the way that they leave everything out on the field.
“They keep going and going and I think that is a result of how hard they work, it will be a real test but we’ve prepared all week to ensure we’re ready for it.”
Ferguson also admitted that some of the fringe players in his first-team squad may be heading out on loan during the January transfer window.
He added: “We’re looking at getting a couple of players some game time, the younger lads will go out and there may be some others who need some games.
“Reece Fielding and Tyler Walker have already improved from their loan spells, there are others who we’ll look to get out that aren’t getting games here.
“There are one or two clubs confirming their interest in our fringe players, it will be after the weekend and sometimes as a manager you have to do the right thing for the team and the player.”
