Manager Darren Ferguson is targeting three points against Bristol Rovers on Saturday to continue his side’s eight-match unbeaten run in Sky Bet League One.
Rovers haven’t tasted defeat since 9 December in the League, and Ferguson has been impressed with the way his side have improved over the course of the season.
“We need a win on Saturday, it's been a brilliant run so far and we want to continue that, Saturday is not a must win game but it would be nice to round the month off with three points,” he said.
“If you have watched us through the course of the season there has been a gradual progression in the side, I think we have shown a resolve to us which I have been pleased about.
“If we win on Saturday that would take us to 40 points after 30 games, and given where we were before Christmas you would have taken that and there’s 16 games still to go.”
The Gas are the visitors to the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday, they are currently on a five-game unbeaten run of their own, and Ferguson is an admirer of Darrell Clarke’s side.
“We are coming up against teams in form, Plymouth were similar, I like Bristol Rovers as a team, they have a good manager and I like the way he plays.
“It was a really tight affair at their place, they are a team that has good energy and they are aggressive, they have hit a bit of form of late because they have been consistent,” he said.
“They went a ridiculous amount of time without drawing a game, then the game after we played them they drew, and then against Blackpool they drew, they played very well against Bradford in a 3-1 win and they will have a lot of confidence coming into this game.”
