Kongolo extends Rovers stay

4 January 2018

Rodney Kongolo is looking forward to continuing his development at Rovers after extending his loan from Manchester City until the end of the season.

The midfielder has made 28 appearances for Darren Ferguson’s side, scoring once, and says working with the manager noted for progressing young players has really paid off for him.

He said: “The gaffer has been brilliant to work with, he helps me and the other young players a lot, and I feel I have really grown as a player and person.

“The aim now is to build on that, to feature in as many games as possible and keep improving as a player. I’m really happy to be staying.”

Kongolo’s brother Terence has followed him into English football, moving on loan to Premier League side Huddersfield Town this January.

He added: “I still don’t know that much about Yorkshire as it is still pretty new to me, but since I have been here it has been good to me. I told him the English game is tough and the Premier League will be tough.”

Rovers look to continue thier five-match unbeaten run when they face Rochdale in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday 6 January, get your tickets for the game via the Club Doncaster Box Office by calling 01302 762576 or heading online to tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
