Development manager John Schofield praised his side’s first half display after they drew 4-4 against Morecambe at Cantley Park.
A Liam Mandeville double, along with goals from Cody Prior and Max Watters put Rovers in control, before a Garry Thompson hat-trick for Morecambe meant they had to settle for a share of the spoils.
Schofield said: “We were in control at half time so it’s disappointing not to win the game, we had to find a balance between killing the game off but not leaving ourselves too open.
“We scored some nice goals and looked a threat going forward, the conditions were tough to play good football in but we gave a good account of ourselves.”
Schofield was also happy with the performance of full-back Tyler Walker, who has agreed a contract extension with the club until the end of the season.
He added: “These games are crucial for the younger lads and it enables them to get a run of games under their belt against good players.
“The first-team coaching staff are at the majority of these games so get to see players like Tyler performing on a regular basis.”
