Manager Grant McCann says midfielder Issam Ben Khemis will play 90 minutes for Rovers’ Development side in Monday’s friendly against Staveley Miners Welfare.

The 22-year-old has had a slightly disrupted pre-season after missing the behind-closed-doors win over Leeds United due to a knock.

He featured against Birmingham City and Deeping Rangers, but boss McCann feels he needs a full match to ensure he is ready for the start of the season.

“Issam missed the behind closed doors friendly against Leeds United and came off early against Birmingham, so he is playing catch up at the moment, and that is why he didn’t feature against Sheffield United,” he said.

“I think it is important that he gets 90 minutes at Staveley because 45 minutes would have been no good to him, so he will be involved there.

“James Coppinger and Tommy Rowe will not be involved now because we don’t want to take any risks, we will just get a week’s worth of training and we’ll be ready to go against Southend.”

Kick-off at Inkersall Road is 7.30pm, with entrance £4 for adults and £2 concessions.

Rovers kick-off their Sky Bet League One campaign at Southend United on Saturday August 4, before their first home outing against Wycombe Wanderers the following Saturday.

The most cost-effective way to ensure you don’t miss a minute is via a Season Membership. You can buy in person from the Club Doncaster Box Office, by calling 01302 762576 or going to tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
