Matty Blair enjoyed his first week back at Cantley Park after returning to pre-season training with his teammates.
The 29-year-old is heading into his third season with the club, and says the mood in the camp is a positive one.
He said: “I enjoy pre-season, it’s a good opportunity to get yourself as fit as you can and it’s always tough but enjoyable at the same time.
“It’s important to keep building our fitness up leading into the first game of the season, we will give it everything to make sure we’re ready.
“It’s good to be back with the lads, it doesn’t feel that long since the end of the season so it’s nice to be back in and amongst them.”
Rovers have travelled to La Manga as part of their preparations for the 2018/19 campaign, and Blair thinks it will be a good opportunity to get to know new manager Grant McCann.
He added: “The new manager has been very observant, he’s been watching us a lot and still getting to know everybody which I’m sure I’ll do with him at some point.
“It’s great timing for everybody, we’ll have five days with each other and the gaffer and Cliff Byrne can all assess what we’re like as people and players.
“Our friendlies are just around the corner, it will be a case of the manager trying out different formations and building our fitness levels up.”
Rovers kick-off their Sky Bet League One campaign at Southend United on Saturday August 4, before their first home outing against Wycombe Wanderers the following Saturday.
