Rovers will take on Grimsby Town and Notts County in the group stage of the Checkatrade Trophy.
Rovers have been placed in Group G of the competition’s northern section, and will also play one Academy side.
The 48 EFL clubs have been placed into pre-determined groups, with consideration given to ensure travel time is minimised for supporters and recovery time is maximised for players.
In addition, if there is a situation where two teams meet in the group stages for a second successive season, then the club who was at home in 2017/18 will play away in 2018/19. All EFL clubs will play two of their three matches at home in the group stage.
This means Rovers will host Grimsby Town at the Keepmoat Stadium, while heading to Meadow Lane to take on Notts County. The Academy side drawn into the group will also visit the Keepmoat Stadium.
That could be Everton, Leicester City, Manchester City, Middlesbrough, Newcastle United, Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion or Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The draw to place the Academy sides will take place at approximately 1.20pm on Wednesday July 18 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in central London.
The result of the draw will be on Rovers’ social media and official website
