Goalkeeper Ian Lawlor says the squad have adapted well to Grant McCann’s style of play since the manager joined the club.

Rovers travel to Southend United on August 4 as the 2018/19 Sky Bet League One season gets underway, and Lawlor says the team are looking forward to kicking off their campaign.

“Pre-season has been really good for us, we have had a good few games since we have returned and training has been good, we’re just preparing for the start of the season now,” he said.

“The manager is getting us prepared on the tactical side of things and we’re ready to go now, I think everyone has adapted to the manager’s style of play quite well.

“It took us all a few days to get used to certain things but I think we have adapted to things quite well and we’re all looking forward to getting underway now.”

Rovers have added Tom Anderson, Ali Crawford, Max Watters and Mallik Wilks to their ranks, and Lawlor says the players have settled in well since joining the club.

“I think the new signings have gelled really well, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a group like it where everyone is so welcoming,” he added.

“It has been easy for the boys to adapt and everyone just gets on with it, we have a good spirit within the team and the manager really likes that.

“I like pre-season, it is nice to have a few weeks off but you always look forward to getting back to it, getting back into the routine and you can’t beat it.”

Rovers kick-off their Sky Bet League One campaign at Southend United on Saturday August 4, before their first home outing against Wycombe Wanderers the following Saturday.
