Marko Marosi says the mood in the Rovers camp is a confident one after consecutive wins at the start of pre-season.
A 1-0 success over Alfreton was backed up by a comfortable 5-0 victory at Frickley on Tuesday, and the goalkeeper was pleased with both outings.
He said: “It’s a happy camp at the minute, it’s important to get the games in the bag to build our fitness levels up.
“Understanding how the defenders in front of us play is a key part of being a goalkeeper so pre-season is the time to make those relationships stronger.
“You have to approach every game with the right mind-set and we do a lot of work on the training ground preparing for each team.”
Marosi and fellow keeper Ian Lawlor played 45 minutes each in both games, and the Slovakian is keen to impress manager Grant McCann.
He added: “Myself and Ian have been getting a half each so we’ve both been trying to do everything right impress the gaffer.
“We haven’t had too much to do but when we have I think we’ve done things well and we’ve managed to get the two wins.
“It’s all about showing the manager what we can do, I’ll give everything to hopefully be in the team come the first game of the season.”
Rovers kick-off their Sky Bet League One campaign at Southend United on Saturday August 4, before their first home outing against Wycombe Wanderers the following Saturday.
