Midfielder Tommy Rowe is hoping to join his teammates early on in pre-season as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
Rowe who has been out of action since April has spent his summer recovering at Cantley Park, and says building up his fitness for pre-season games is vital in his recovery.
“I was devastated to miss the final few games of the season, but I had to look at the situation and it was decided that it was the best course of action to get myself back for this season,” he said.
“I am on track which is good, I am back with the physio full-time now and I am hoping to be in a position where I can be involved with the lads on the first day of pre-season.
“The plan was to always get back for the start of the season, it will depend on how I am over the pre-season period, my fitness levels will be fine there’s no doubt about that, it is the match fitness that I need to focus on.”
Rowe will be entering his third season with Rovers since his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2016, and he says the foundations are in place for the team to better their 15th place finish last season.
“There are solid foundations that have been built here and we want to make sure that we are in a position to better our finish last season,” he added.
“We have a really exciting squad and I can not wait to get going, we need continue to look forward and we have a good set of lads who are all pulling together in the right direction.
“The new manager will be quite thankful that he has a side that are very together, that wants to learn, and it’s a good season to grab by the horns and push on.”
