Kieran Scarff has praised the club’s commitment to young players after five players from the Rovers’ youth team were awarded professional contracts.

Danny Amos, Jacob Fletcher, Cody Prior, Morgan James and James Morris have been given their first senior deals, and Scarff was quick to highlight the progress both they and the club have made.

“As a club, we are all delighted that five of our youth team players have been awarded professional contracts, and it really shows that they are a testament to all the hard work everyone puts in around the football club,” he said.

“It further highlights the commitment we have to develop our own players and provide them with realistic pathways into professional football.

“The support and guidance that the young lads have received has been outstanding, and along with the daily contact they have with the first team staff, which is the norm at this club, the players have grasped the opportunity with both hands.”

All five of the young players awarded professional deals featured in the Rovers’ first team this season, with Amos and Fletcher making their league debuts as well, and Scarff feels this can help them become a permanent fixture in the first team sooner rather than later.

“The awarding of professional contracts started with Danny just before Christmas, and it has culminated in the four other lads being offered and accepting deals with the club,” he added.

“These young players have worked extremely hard and they have shown a real commitment to their own development, as well as showing the patience that is needed when you are a young player.

“However, with the continued support of our coaches and by continuing to be dedicated to helping progress their careers, we really hope that we will be seeing these players progress towards establishing themselves as first team players in seasons to come.”
