Rovers midfielder Issam Ben Khemis says has learnt a lot during his first season in English football.
The Tunisian has made two league appearances for Darren Ferguson’s side this season in Sky Bet League One, scoring against Shrewsbury Town, and he says it has been a valuable learning experience.
“This is my first season in English football and it has been a really good experience for me learning the language, and also trying to understand how the manager wants me to play football,” he said.
“I think my language has improved, if you continue to work hard and if you continue to train hard, you will continue to impress and hopefully I will get my chance next season.
“I scored my first goal for the club against Shrewsbury and that made me very happy because we got a good draw out of it in the end, and I will be ready when I am needed.”
The 21-year-old scored against Walsall Reserves on his return to football on Tuesday, and Ben Khemis says he wants to help Rovers in anyway that he can.
“I am happy to be back because it has been seven weeks and I haven’t touched a ball during that time, I hope I can continue to help the team whether it is the Development side or the first-team,” he added.
“I don’t see my time out injured as frustrating, I see it as a leaning curve, it is my first injury in football and I am happy because I want to learn about all aspects of the game.
“For example I have never worked with the physio before now and it is so good for me to continue my development and come back a stronger player.”
