Butler's pride at Rovers role

14 March 2018

Andy Butler believes the Rovers squad has a good balance to it as he looks ahead to the 2018/19 season.

The club captain penned a one-year contract extension earlier this summer, to keep him at the club until the summer of 2019.

He said: “We have got a young squad and we do have a lot of senior professionals as well, so the mixture is right and it only looks good for the future, some of the younger lads are finding their feet as well.”

Butler is into his fourth season at the Keepmoat Stadium, and has thrown himself into life at the club - resulting in him being named PFA Community Player of the Year last season.

He is also particularly proud to be club captain of his hometown side.

He added: “It means a lot to be captain of my local team, for a long time I thought I wouldn’t get the opportunity to play for my hometown club.

“I have loved every minute of it, it is a real honour to pull on the shirt every time I get to do so.”

Rovers’ Season Memberships for 2018/19 are on sale from March 20 2018, with great rewards such as Xbox One S consoles, virtual reality headsets and smart TV boxsets for the first 500 fans who pay in full for their Season Membership. There is also a daily prize draw which runs for the duration of the early bird window, from March 20 until April 13, with unique prizes up for grabs for those who have committed to following Rovers at all home games (for Season Memberships bought either in full or via direct debit).
