Ferguson: Fans will play a big part

17 March 2018

Manager Darren Ferguson says the fans will play a big part in Rovers final games of the season.

His side returned to Sky Bet League One at the first time of asking last summer, and Ferguson has called upon the Rovers fans to carry them over the line as this season draws to a close.

“As a player I loved playing in these sort of games, and I know the players do as well, the fans will be up for it and that can give the players a big lift, especially as we head towards the end of the season,” Ferguson said.

“We begin our run-in with a tough derby game, Bradford will be backed by a great support, but I know our fans will be up for it too, it’s one that myself and the players are looking forward to.

“We have some big games coming up, especially with us having the seven games across April, we know we should’ve won more games at home, but we’ve picked up some great points on the road and we have some winnable games coming up too.”

Ferguson is hopeful that his side can finish the season strongly, and the manager feels his side have earned some crucial points against some tough opposition.

“You need to pick up whatever points you can when you’re on the road, we’ve had some tough away tests this season and come away with good points, some of the draws away from home have been great for us,” he said.

“We aren’t looking over our shoulders, we just have to be focused and get the blinkers on and just take every game as it comes, we want to finish the season as strongly as possible.

“There’s still 30 points to play for and we want to finish the season as strongly as we can, but we’re only looking at Monday’s game because we know that with a win we can get up to 46 points with nine to go.”

The visit of Bradford City on Monday March 19 is now the only home game for Rovers in March. Tickets are available via the Club Doncaster Box Office. Buy yours now either in-store, by calling on 01302 762576, or going online to
