Jordan Houghton says he has enjoyed playing a different role in the Rovers side in recent weeks.
The midfielder has played on the right of a midfield diamond rather than the holding role, and believes that has allowed him to showcase more of his talent.
He said: "I'm enjoying myself at the moment, I'm used to playing in different positions after being used in a back three at times last season, and I believe being comfortable anywhere on the pitch is key.
"Playing on the right of midfield has given me a bit more of a license to get forward in games, I've shown a different side to my game and the manager has spoken to me about doing that.
"It's something we used to do at Chelsea to make us understand different positions, it helps you adapt and get used to what the players playing in those areas want and need in a game."
Rovers now face a run of eight games in the space of a month in Sky Bet League One, and Houghton says the squad are keen to finish the season strongly.
He added: "We've got a quick turnaround and we've got a lot of those coming up in the next few weeks, we've had a light month but now the work starts again and our recovery is going to be very important.
"The games we've got coming are tough and ones against teams in and around us as well so it's important that we get points on the board and try to finish as high up the table as possible.
"We're not looking at a points target, we want to be looking up rather than over our shoulder. It's down to us to put in the performances and get the wins, and then the table will take care of itself."
