Marosi happy with performance

11 March 2018

Marko Marosi was full of praise for his teammates as Rovers earned a point on the road at Southend United.

Marosi kept a clean sheet in tough conditions at Roots Hall, but he felt the side were good value for their point against the in-form Shrimpers.

“It was a scrappy game, the conditions were difficult, the pitch wasn’t great, and it was very bobbly, so to come away with a point and a clean sheet away from home is a great result, when you consider how good Southend have been recently,” he said.

“I’ve only really had two saves to make, the first was pretty straight forward and the one in the second half was more of a reaction save so I’m happy to contribute to the point, but it’s a team performance and we’ve done very well today.

“We had to make a late change in the defence before the game had even kicked off, but Matty Blair came in and he was ready for it, we have to be ready for anything that comes at us and I thought Matty was brilliant today.”

Marosi’s clean sheet was his second in three games, with the Slovakian coming back into the side last month, but he says that the competition is a friendly one between him and Ian Lawlor.

“Me and Ian are very competitive in training, we always want to push ourselves to be better, and Ian has been in fantastic form this season, but we have a great relationship,” he added.

“I think I’ve done alright, I’ve been quite comfortable and quite confident, after the Rotherham game I just wanted another game to come along quickly, it was a very frustrating game, but these things happen in football but it’s all forgotten about now.

“You always have to be ready, you have to expect to come into the side, I’ve kept saying to myself just to be patient and that my time in the side would come, if it comes you have to be ready and I’m glad my chance has come.”
